Salary: £38,756 to £42,588 per annum, dependent on skills and experience

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Detector Scientist to join our team at the UK's national synchrotron science facility, Diamond Light Source. As a Detector Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating advanced spectroscopy detectors for our users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new detector systems for spectroscopy applications
  • Operate and maintain existing detector systems
  • Collaborate with users to understand their research needs and provide expert advice on detector selection and operation
  • Contribute to the development of new spectroscopy techniques and methods

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in spectroscopy and detector design, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be comfortable with the idea of continuous learning and professional development.
