Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Child and Family Worker to join our team at Essex County Council. As a Specialist Child and Family Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and families who experience difficulties and inequalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical and specialist advice to children and families with complex needs.
  • Act as a lead coordinator for other support services, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manage safeguarding risks to children, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Take the lead on an area of professional practice, such as mental health, supporting team members and liaising with external professionals.
  • Operate flexibly to meet the needs of families, working outside of normal office hours when necessary.

Requirements

  • Significant practical experience of working with children and families with multiple and complex needs.
  • Effective communication skills, able to engage with a range of children, families, and professionals.
  • Ability to keep accurate records on our computer-based system, completing assessments and other key documents.
  • A driving license and car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
