Our client, a prominent player in the automotive sector, is seeking to appoint a permanent Lead Quality Assurance Engineer. This organization specializes in the production of high-quality automotive components and accessories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of all quality-related matters within the manufacturing and goods receiving departments, addressing internal, supplier, customer, and warranty issues.
  • Play a crucial role in identifying the root causes of defects and implementing lasting corrective measures for product quality challenges, utilizing the Global 8D methodology.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external partners to swiftly resolve quality concerns, ensuring that quality and safety standards are upheld.
  • Conduct and assist in product and process audits to maintain high standards.
  • Ensure that control plans and relevant documentation are effectively implemented and regularly updated.
  • Have the authority to halt production in cases of unacceptable materials or processes, and identify necessary actions to resume operations.
  • Support compliance with and assist in the auditing of the Business Management System, including relevant standards.
  • Facilitate training sessions to enhance quality awareness among staff.
  • Monitor adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the organization and report on necessary corrective actions.
  • Assist in the approval process for initial sample products.
  • Encourage the adoption of preferred customer methodologies for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in cross-functional teams to develop new products or modify existing ones to meet customer specifications.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Lead initiatives aimed at process enhancement.
  • Generate high-quality written reports and confidently deliver presentations.
  • Mentor other members of the Quality Department.
  • Act as a primary contact for supplier quality management.
  • Foster positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Proactively address issues related to non-conforming materials from suppliers.
  • Exhibit assertiveness, resilience, and adaptability to change.
  • Engage others and promote a collaborative working environment.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • In-depth knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and FMEA processes.
  • Familiarity with relevant quality standards.
  • Understanding of environmental and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Awareness of measurement techniques and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse and dynamic work environment.
  • Strong negotiation and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in presenting data effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Willingness to mentor and share expertise with colleagues.
  • Understanding of financial implications related to quality.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer expectations and the consequences of quality failures.
