Position OverviewCMM Quality Assurance Specialist
Our esteemed engineering client is on the lookout for a skilled CMM Quality Assurance Specialist. This organization stands as a leader in the manufacturing and supply sector, renowned for its commitment to excellence and innovation.
Role Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to perform quality assessments of machined components sourced both internally and externally, ensuring that dimensional precision and process integrity are upheld. The specialist will be tasked with creating, installing, and executing CNC CMM programs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Execute initial and final inspections of manufactured components utilizing CMM, portable measuring devices, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Verify that machined components, finished products, and those requiring external processing adhere to specified tolerances and comply with technical drawings.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure that all revisions are up-to-date and that any changes impacting component manufacturing are effectively communicated.
  • Conduct routine inspections to confirm that documentation is accurately completed and that operator checks are properly recorded.
  • Work alongside the Assembly and Inspection Manager to guarantee that all measuring instruments and gauges are calibrated according to established schedules.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure that external treatments are dispatched correctly and verified upon return.
  • Adhere to and be prepared to support ISO systems and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as required and deemed appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental regulations.

Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Proficient engineering knowledge in precision measurement using a Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), including programming expertise with PC-DMIS.
  • Experience with various manual inspection tools, such as gauges, micrometers, and verniers.
  • Background in a CNC Machining environment.
  • Ability to effectively interpret and understand engineering drawings, documents, purchase orders, inspection manuals, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR) and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with various departments and external suppliers.
  • Capability to address quality issues assertively to safeguard the business interests.
  • Analytical mindset with a penchant for inquiry.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions based on facts and logic.
  • Willingness to take responsibility with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
