Our esteemed engineering client is in search of a skilled CMM Quality Control Specialist. They are recognized as a leading manufacturer and supplier in their field. Their advanced head office is equipped with the latest engineering technologies.
The Role
The primary responsibility is to perform quality inspections of machined components, both sourced internally and externally, ensuring dimensional accuracy and maintaining process control. This includes creating, installing, and operating CNC CMM programs using PC-DMIS.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct first-off and final inspections of manufactured components utilizing CMM, portable measuring arms, gauges, micrometers, etc.
  • Ensure that machined components, finished products, and those requiring external processes meet the specified tolerances and comply with engineering drawings.
  • Collaborate with the drawing office to confirm that all revisions are current and that any changes affecting component manufacture are communicated effectively.
  • Perform patrol inspections to verify that documentation is accurately completed and that operator checks are recorded.
  • Work alongside the Assembly and Inspection Manager to ensure all measuring equipment and gauges are calibrated at the appropriate intervals.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure that external treatments are dispatched correctly and checked upon return.
  • Adhere to and be capable of covering ISO systems and procedures.
  • Undertake additional duties as required and deemed appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental regulations.

Knowledge/Experience
  • Proficient engineering knowledge for precision measurement using a Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), including programming skills with PC-DMIS.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a CMM Programmer/Inspector in an engineering environment.
  • Experience with various manual inspection tools, such as gauges, micrometers, and verniers.
  • Background in a CNC Machining environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, documents, purchase orders, inspection manuals, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR) and First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with different departments and external suppliers.
  • Ability to address quality issues assertively to protect the business interests.
  • Analytical mindset with a penchant for inquiry.
  • Problem-solving skills with the capacity to make informed decisions based on facts and logic.
  • Willingness to take responsibility with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail.
