Job Overview

The Graduate Project is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Senior Youth Support Worker. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in empowering young people in schools and communities who are at risk of school exclusion, grappling with mental health issues, or involved in Serious Youth Violence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with official bodies, community groups, and nonprofit youth organizations to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Develop and maintain a favorable and trustworthy relationship with the youth and local community, promoting a sense of belonging and trust.
  • Improve student involvement in education, demonstrating enhanced attendance, positive behavior, and increased academic success through targeted interventions and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver programs that address the unique needs of young people, promoting social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Support the selection, training, and development of volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality support to young people.
  • Provide young people with information, advice, and guidance, empowering them to make informed decisions and take control of their lives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of program activities, outcomes, and evidence, submitting reports to management as required.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to junior team members, overseeing their onboarding and delivering training sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience working directly with young people, including mentoring, providing support, and facilitating educational programs.
  • A Level 3 qualification in youth work or a related field.
  • A youth work degree or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Personal experience of the challenges faced by the young people you will support.
  • Excellent skills in building and nurturing relationships, with the ability to communicate effectively with young people, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices, with a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of young people.
