Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Youth Support Worker. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering our programs and services to young people who are at risk of school exclusion, grappling with mental health issues, or involved in Serious Youth Violence.

Main Responsibilities

  • Establish Partnerships
    • Develop and maintain relationships with official bodies, community groups, and nonprofit youth organizations to ensure effective collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Build Trusting Relationships
    • Foster a positive and trustworthy relationship with the youth and local community through regular engagement and outreach activities.
  • Improve Student Outcomes
    • Work with students to improve their involvement in education, demonstrating enhanced attendance, positive behavior, and increased academic success.
  • Program Development
    • Contribute to the creation and delivery of programs that address the needs of young people, including mentoring, support, and educational initiatives.
  • Volunteer Management
    • Assist with the selection, training, and growth of volunteers to ensure they are equipped to support our programs and services.
  • Information and Guidance
    • Provide young people with accurate information, advice, and guidance to support their personal and educational development.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Ensure that all documentation is organized, and required evidence is gathered promptly and submitted to managers.
  • Team Support
    • Deliver expert guidance and assistance to junior team members by overseeing their onboarding and offering training sessions.

Requirements

  • Experience
    • At least 2 years of experience working directly with young people, including engaging in activities such as mentoring, providing support, and facilitating educational programs.
  • Qualifications
    • A Level 3 qualification in youth work or a related field.
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • A youth work degree or equivalent.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Personal experience with the challenges faced by the young people you will support.
  • Skills
    • Skilled in building and nurturing relationships.
  • Knowledge
    • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices.
