JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently seeking a Principal/Lead Civil Structural Engineer to be part of our team. This is a full-time staff position offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our projects across various regions.

The ideal applicant will possess strong technical expertise and have a background in the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, LNG, or Power Generation sectors. Previous experience in a comparable role is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
    • Conduct analysis and engineering/design of steel and concrete structures adhering to various International & Company codes and standards (e.g., European, American, British, Shell, Aramco)
    • Perform analysis and engineering/design of structure and equipment foundations under static and dynamic loads
    • Utilize engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, Foundation 3D, and Matt 3D for analysis and design
    • Prepare Basis of Engineering/Design, Material Specifications, Material take-offs, Scopes of Work, Technical reports, and facilitate inter-discipline engineering/design coordination and supervision
    • Competently prepare engineering/design calculations for steel and concrete structures, including seismic design and extreme wind load considerations, and develop design sketches to relay necessary information to designers on assigned projects
    • Collaborate with Engineers/Designers in the creation of CAD drawings, typically using Microstation, Smartplant 3D, AutoCAD, PDMS, and PDS
    • Coordinate with other disciplines to meet their requirements and assist Engineers/Designers in preparing structural and foundation drawings and details
    • Provide technical support to team members
    • Contribute to the development of a lessons learned database
    • Ensure all work is conducted with a strong emphasis on safety, both in design and within the office environment
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Engineering Degree in a relevant field
  • Chartered Engineer status is preferable
  • Proficient in using civil design software such as STAAD.Pro, Foundation 3D, and Matt 3D
  • Strong understanding of UK national and international codes and standards
