JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently seeking a Principal/Lead Civil Structural Engineer to be part of our team. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

The successful candidate will contribute to our projects across various regions, including the UK and the Middle East.

The ideal applicant will possess strong technical expertise and have a background in the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, LNG, or Power Generation sectors. Previous experience in a comparable role is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
    • Conduct analysis and engineering/design of steel and concrete structures adhering to various international and company-specific codes and standards (e.g., European, American, British, Shell, Aramco)
    • Perform analysis and engineering/design of structural and equipment foundations subjected to static and dynamic loads
    • Utilize engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, Foundation 3D, and Matt 3D for design purposes
    • Prepare Basis of Engineering/Design documents, Material Specifications, Material take-offs, Scopes of Work, Technical reports, and coordinate inter-discipline engineering/design supervision
    • Demonstrate proficiency in engineering/design calculations for steel and concrete structures, including seismic design and extreme wind load considerations, while developing design sketches and communicating necessary information to designers on assigned projects
    • Collaborate with Engineers/Designers to produce CAD drawings, typically using Microstation, Smartplant 3D, AutoCAD, PDMS, and PDS
    • Engage with other disciplines to meet their requirements and work with Engineers/Designers in the creation of structural and foundation drawings and details
    • Provide technical assistance to team members
    • Contribute to the development of a lessons learned database
    • Ensure all tasks are executed with a strong emphasis on safety, both in design and office settings
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Engineering Degree in a relevant field
  • Chartered Engineer status is preferred
  • Proficient in using civil design software such as STAAD.Pro, Foundation 3D, and Matt 3D
  • Strong understanding of UK national and international codes and standards
