Chief Commercial Officer – Supply Chain Oversight

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager with active SC clearance to spearhead our efforts in aligning the strategic direction of Supply Chain processes and performance. This role is pivotal in supporting our Strategic Supply Chain team and Procurement operations, ensuring robust governance, comprehensive reporting, and streamlined systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the governance of contracts and facilitate negotiations within the Supply Chain sub-function, leveraging expertise in contract law, terms, conditions, and various agreements.
  • Maintain an organized repository of clauses and standard contract templates to ensure adherence to mandatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic leadership with a focus on compliance, particularly regarding Schedule 37 and 38 of the M&O contract, to shape the risk and compliance framework across Supply Chain.
  • Develop and implement a risk management tracking system and methodology tailored for the Supply Chain sub-function.
  • Establish governance and reporting mechanisms for risk and compliance, ensuring clear accountability and effective escalation of issues to the appropriate governance groups.
  • Design and deliver best practice reporting on procurement activities, aimed at enhancing data visibility and accessibility, while ensuring high-quality, timely, and accurate management information.

Evaluation Criteria:

  1. Proven background in Commercial/Supply Chain management.
  2. Demonstrated experience in implementing policies and procedures within a large public sector organization.
  3. Comprehensive understanding of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and its operational framework.
  4. Experience in training, communication, and the rollout of new frameworks.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active SC Clearance.
  • Commercial acumen in Supplier Risk Management.
  • Deep understanding of reporting mechanisms and upward communication.
  • Experience in implementing Supplier frameworks and trigger mechanisms.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Extensive experience within the public sector.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • CIPS certification.
  • Familiarity with relevant systems.
