QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) is a subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, focusing on the design and production of innovative Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the renowned Banshee target. The success of military operations relies on the Armed Forces having access to the right tools and undergoing comprehensive training against realistic scenarios. This effectiveness is achieved through meticulous testing and integration of military equipment with operational personnel, alongside extensive training prior to deployment.

As a leader in the design, development, and operation of sophisticated target systems for live-fire training exercises and weapon testing, QTS plays a pivotal role in military readiness.

Key Responsibilities:
In your role as a Test Development Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Support Manager, you will redefine and enhance our testing methodologies to ensure products align with performance standards. Your expertise will be applied using NI Labview, Teststand, and custom-designed test fixtures.

Your daily tasks will include providing technical assistance to purchasing and production teams, collaborating with design engineers to offer testing insights during design reviews, and leading discussions on design-for-manufacture. You will also be responsible for designing Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) fixtures, overseeing their assembly, and developing and commissioning ATE test programs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement testing strategies for products
  • Collaborate with Research and Development (R&D) to optimize new product designs for testing
  • Create standalone testing methods and develop the necessary hardware and software solutions
  • Provide training and support to factory test supervisors
  • Manage product testing changes in a dynamic environment

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a test development setting
  • Expertise in radio frequency testing and measurement
  • Ability to interpret electronic schematic diagrams and component datasheets
  • Understanding of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) challenges and solutions
  • Experience in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, including schematic capture and layout

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical, Aviation, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Note: All candidates must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.
