About the Role

Job Title: Test Development Engineer

We are currently recruiting a Test Development Engineer to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Production Engineering Team.

Job Summary

The Test Development Engineer position is a unique opportunity to work on leading projects within the aerospace industry (Aerial Target / UAS platforms) with exposure to cutting-edge aerospace technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the way we test and ensure products meet performance specifications, using NI Labview, Teststand and test fixtures you design.
  • Provide technical support to the purchasing and production team and work with the design engineering teams to provide test expertise through design reviews and design-for-manufacture discussions.
  • Design ATE test fixtures and supervise their assembly.
  • Develop ATE test programs and commission them, along with the fixtures.
  • Develop standalone test methods & design and implement the necessary hardware and software solutions for these methods.
  • Document to company standards all test procedures for factory use.
  • Provide training and support to the factory test supervisors.
  • Manage change to product testing in a live environment.

Requirements

You will be degree qualified in a relevant field or have equivalent experience and qualifications and have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a test development environment.

We also ask that you have the following key capabilities/knowledge:

  • Radio frequency test and measurement experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronics schematic drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic component data sheets.
  • An understanding of EMC issues and solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills with experience of standard Microsoft Office apps with Office 365 suite an advantage.
  • A helpful can-do attitude with a focus on delivering for customers.
  • PCB design, including schematic capture, layout and output to manufacture.
  • LEAN manufacturing experience desirable.
