About the Role

The Associate Director of Nursing is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of person-centered, safe, and effective nursing services and clinical practice within the Health and Social Care Partnership (H&SCP).

The post holder will have a key role in implementing policy, supporting the development of a highly skilled nursing workforce, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of the Lanarkshire population.

The Associate Director of Nursing will also be responsible for deputizing for the Nurse Director, H&SCP, and attending executive-level meetings as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the nursing service
  • Implement policy and support the development of a highly skilled nursing workforce
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of the Lanarkshire population
  • Deputize for the Nurse Director, H&SCP, and attend executive-level meetings as required
  • Lead on specific professional/managerial and operational issues for nursing across NHS Lanarkshire
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have significant senior management experience in the NHS or another complex multidisciplinary public or private sector organization.

They will have a proven track record of success in the management of service improvement, delivery and monitoring of high-quality standards of care, planning and delivery of successful organizational change, and proactive partnership working internal and external to the NHS.

The candidate will also have a high level of performance in the leadership behaviors identified as crucial within NHS Scotland, such as working in partnership, learning and development, caring for staff, improving performance through team working, communicating effectively, improving quality, and achieving results.

They will have a detailed understanding of clinical best practice and policy, experience of working and successfully contributing within a senior team, and experience in staff management/development and multi-disciplinary working at peer level.

The candidate will also have proven people and financial management capabilities.
