About the Role

Screwfix is seeking a highly skilled Buying Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our commercial team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining strong business partnerships with our trading teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and oversee the timely completion of annual vendor buying agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Utilize management information to identify opportunities for cost savings and improve vendor negotiation outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain best practices in buying approach and vendor management, aligned with company guidelines and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with trading teams to drive commercial improvement and support vendor strategy.
  • Work closely with category teams to deliver business and cross-category objectives.
  • Validate major branded CPI requests and coordinate cost recovery programs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in buying and/or commercial roles, with a strong understanding of negotiation levers and planning.
  • Excellent partnership skills, with the ability to influence, challenge, and support across functions and levels.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze data to deliver meaningful insights.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
