Overview

Screwfix is seeking a highly skilled Buying Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our commercial operations, you will play a crucial role in developing strong business partnerships with our trading teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the timely completion of annual vendor buying agreements
  • Utilizing management information to identify opportunities for improvement in vendor negotiations and management
  • Sharing and maintaining best practices on buying approaches and ways of working
  • Developing and coordinating individual and set play negotiation opportunities
  • Creating and owning templates, and workshop best practices into trading teams
  • Ensuring the latest commodity, currency, and markets data is being proactively used to secure the best buying price
  • Validating all major branded CPI requests
  • Coordinating a program of cost recovery where price investment is made

Key Business Relationships

You will collaborate closely with trading teams to support vendor strategy and drive commercial improvement. You will also work in partnership with category teams within commercial to deliver business and cross-category objectives.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Previous experience in buying and/or commercial roles, with a strong understanding of multiple negotiation levers and negotiation planning
  • Strong partnership skills, able to influence, challenge, and support across functions and levels
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, able to interpret and analyze data to deliver meaningful value-add insight to key stakeholders
  • Strong team player who uses initiative and diplomacy when liaising with internal and external customers
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
