Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Respiratory Physiologist to enhance the Respiratory Physiology service within our Community Diagnostic Centre. This role offers a unique opportunity for a professional with substantial clinical knowledge and leadership skills to take on operational leadership duties and support the newly established community diagnostic service.

Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the effective and efficient functioning of the service, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and development to meet the future needs of our patients.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide professional leadership, guidance, and support for the Respiratory and Sleep Physiology department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and diagnostics.

- Oversee and enhance the efficient management of resources and laboratory settings to meet patient needs effectively.

- Ensure that staff and services receive adequate support and development to deliver exceptional care in accordance with trust values and standards.

- Drive the highest standards of care through the implementation of audit and peer review initiatives.

- Manage the department budget and work towards achieving efficiency savings.

- Coordinate and participate in research projects and continuous professional development (CPD).

- Facilitate training for staff both within and outside the department.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications and Education

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Clinical Physiology, PTP, or equivalent.
  • RCCP registration or equivalent.
  • ARTP parts 1 and 2 or specialized knowledge in respiratory analysis and related disorders.
  • STP/Equivalence or proof of ongoing relevant professional development.
  • ILM level 3 or equivalent in NHS Management.

Desirable Criteria

  • Pursuing an MSc.
  • RCCP registration.
  • Coaching or mentoring qualification.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant post-qualification experience in Respiratory and Sleep Physiology as a qualified Highly Specialised Clinical Physiologist.
  • Competence in performing all investigations outlined in the job description.
  • Experience in managing part of a service, including staff management.
  • Familiarity with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Evidence of personal continuous professional development.
  • Proficiency in IT.
  • Participation in audit activities.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring staff.
  • Evidence of managing change effectively.

Desirable Criteria

  • Familiarity with equipment commonly used in the department.
  • Evidence of published articles.
