About the Role

NHS Scotland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pharmacist to join our team in Adult Mental Health, Addictions and Learning Disabilities. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing expert pharmaceutical advice and contributing to the development and improvement of pharmaceutical services for patients with mental health disorders and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services to identified areas within secondary care that provide mental health, addictions and/or learning disabilities support.
  • Work closely with primary care teams to identify and prioritize key prescribing indicators around the mental health agenda.
  • Develop and participate in plans to address areas identified, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services.
  • Lead and contribute to the wider development and improvement of pharmaceutical services to patients with mental health disorders and learning disabilities.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and a highly specialized level of clinical pharmacy knowledge and skills.
  • Experience of service development and a passion for driving forward change.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • A Masters of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, and postgraduate qualification to Diploma level in Clinical Pharmacy (or demonstrable expert knowledge to that level).
  • A Practice Certificate in Pharmacist Independent Prescribing and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (including evidence of CPD).
Working Arrangements

This is a permanent position based at Ayrshire Central Hospital, with a 37-hour working week (1 WTE). You will be required to work collaboratively in a safe, caring and respectful way, and may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.
