About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Risk Controller to lead our Capital and Impairment team at Coventry Building Society. As a key member of our Credit Risk department, you will be responsible for overseeing the team's activities, ensuring the effective implementation of our Model Risk Framework guidelines, and providing critical data for our Annual Report.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in regulatory credit risk capital (Standardised Approach & IRB) and IFRS9 expected credit loss standards. They will also possess excellent leadership and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage a team of senior analysts and collaborate with various departments, including Credit Risk Model Development, Financial Reporting, Treasury, and Model Validation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Capital and Impairment team, ensuring the effective implementation of our Model Risk Framework guidelines.
  • Oversee the team's activities, including regulatory reporting and credit model monitoring.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of critical data for our Annual Report.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior executives, board members, and external auditors.

Requirements:

  • Strong technical knowledge of regulatory credit risk capital (Standardised Approach & IRB) and IFRS9 expected credit loss standards.
  • Excellent leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in capital and impairment regulatory reporting and credit model monitoring.
