Position Overview

This role presents a unique opportunity for a dedicated and empathetic support professional to become part of the oncology prehabilitation and therapy team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The team is committed to providing interventions aimed at enhancing patient well-being prior to various cancer treatments, including surgical procedures, radiotherapy, and systemic anticancer therapy (SACT), by integrating physical, nutritional, and psychological strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Oncology Support Specialist will assist in the implementation of prehabilitation and therapy services across specified cancer treatment pathways.
  • The individual in this position will be responsible for facilitating group exercise sessions, personalized treatment plans, and virtual events, including the preparation and organization of each intervention.
  • The role involves supporting clinical and administrative teams in the registration and scheduling of patients for suitable classes.
  • The specialist will collaborate with the therapy team to coordinate with other services, including cancer multidisciplinary teams and external health and wellness organizations.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for exercise and its benefits is essential, as the specialist will inspire others to embrace healthy lifestyle changes while demonstrating a caring approach to healthcare.

Working Schedule

The anticipated working hours for this role are as follows:

  • Monday: 11:00 - 16:30
  • Tuesday: 09:30 - 14:00
  • Wednesday: 09:30 - 14:00
  • Thursday: Non-working day
  • Friday: 11:00 - 16:30

Please note that these hours may be adjusted based on the evolving needs of our service.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of GCSE Grades A-C or equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ/QCF or equivalent level 2 in a health-related field.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in teamwork and working with individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and manage a variety of tasks.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in healthcare environments.
  • Experience working with individuals affected by cancer.
