Job Overview

British Gas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Training Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our training department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical training to our engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive technical training programs for engineers, covering various key engineering disciplines.
  • Manage and lead training groups, ensuring effective learning journeys and progress.
  • Meet performance targets for success rates and timely skills and qualification attainment.
  • Administer and manage all aspects of engineer training, assessment, and internal quality assurance.
  • Lead by example and promote a culture of safety excellence within the workplace.
  • Act as an ambassador for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, fostering an environment where colleagues and customers can thrive.
  • Stay up-to-date with current and future skills requirements, ensuring compliance and technical expertise with relevant competencies, legislation, and industry codes of practice.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure quality and timely completion of all delivery solutions.

Requirements:

  • Electrical NVQ Level 3 qualification - City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition qualification.
  • City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent (highly desirable).
  • Proven experience in delivering and facilitating technical and behavioral learning programs within a large customer-oriented business.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environment across the learning environment.
  • Proven track record of technical competence.
  • Sufficient experience in a technical role and a full understanding of the Technical Operational Procedures relevant to any learner or group of learners.
  • Understanding of National Vocational Qualifications, Scottish Vocational Qualifications, Learning Skills Councils, Sector Skills Councils, Funding Agencies, and Apprenticeships.
  • A functional knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO procedures.
  • Ability to manage large group learning experiences or smaller interventions.
  • Ability to influence and communicate with a broad range of stakeholders, across all levels of the business.
  • Strong underpinning knowledge of learning delivery methodology.
