About the Role

The Assistant Workshop Manager plays a critical part in ensuring optimal Fleet performance and meeting the Operator's requirements efficiently and cost-effectively. As a key support to the Workshop Manager, this position is accountable for overseeing Workshop performance and managing people processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance to both legal and company safety policies and meet safety targets
  • Deliver maintenance services and optimize cost performance & forecasting through the use of resource planning and booking tools
  • Optimize the efficiency of Fleet Workshop to meet industry standard performance levels
  • Ensure effective engagement, communication, and coaching to support and develop the Fleet Workshop team
  • Ensure optimum vehicle availability to meet the requirements of the Operation
  • Provide visible and effective leadership for Fleet Workshop teams and support staff
  • Build effective and professional relationships with key stakeholders and customers, being the first point of contact for operational managers for Fleet related queries
  • Actively manage and support the maintenance of ISO 9001 quality standard within Fleet Workshop and support Continuous Improvement activity within the Workshop

Requirements

  • Relevant industry knowledge and experience of dispersed maintenance operations
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for vehicles and trailers maintained to road transport legislation is essential – HGV is desirable
