Paramedic Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paramedic Specialist to join our team at Long Furlong Medical Centre. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working autonomously to assess and treat patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems.
Main Responsibilities- Assessment and Triage: Assess and triage patients, including same-day triage, to determine the level of care required.
- Health Advice and Promotion: Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to other community or voluntary services.
- Specialist Health Checks and Reviews: Perform specialist health checks and reviews, including ECGs and other investigations as required.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate proactively and effectively with all colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team, attending and contributing to meetings as required.
- Medication Management: Prescribe, issue, and review medications as appropriate, following policy, patient group directives, NICE guidelines, and local clinical guidelines.
- Treatment and Care Planning: Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis, and patients with complex needs.
- Emergency Care: Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent, or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
- Health Promotion and Education: Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, and apply principles of self-care.
Qualifications
- BSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics
- Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
- Framework for Higher Education Qualification (FHEQ) Level 7
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- Pre-reg MSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics
Experience
- Experience in managing a designated caseload
- Ability to write comprehensive clinical notes, implement, and evaluate care plans
- Working knowledge of IT systems
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to evidence a sound understanding of the NHS principles and values
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex/often incomplete information and recommend appropriate course of action
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload
