About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our team at Long Furlong Medical Centre. As a Paramedic Practitioner, you will work autonomously within the community, using clinical assessment and treatment skills to provide high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Assess and triage patients, including same-day triage, to provide timely and effective care.
  2. Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting to other community or voluntary services.
  3. Perform specialist health checks and reviews, including ECGs and other investigations as required.
  4. Communicate effectively with colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team, attending and contributing to meetings as needed.
  5. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous health records, ensuring accurate completion of all necessary documentation.
  6. Prescribe, issue, and review medications as appropriate, following policy and national guidelines.
  7. Work with patients to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments.
  8. Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication, including regimens, side effects, and interactions.
  9. Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment and care for patients presenting with undifferentiated diagnoses or complex needs.
  10. Prioritize health problems and intervene appropriately to assist patients in complex, urgent, or emergency situations.
  11. Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating drug- and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
  12. Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care.

Person Specification

Essential

  • BSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics.
  • Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
  • Framework for Higher Education Qualification (FHEQ) Level 7.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Non-medical prescribing qualification.
  • Pre-reg MSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics.
