Forensic Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Forensic Nurse of Paramedic to join our team at Mountain Healthcare. As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will work closely with the police and provide high-quality care to detainees in a dynamic and lively environment.
The role involves providing a high level of care to detainees, including forensic sampling, signposting, and conducting referrals. You will also work with Liaison and Diversion to identify any mental health needs and promote good personal healthcare.
Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in acute medical healthcare and be a qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic. Previous experience in A&E, walk-in centres, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, or prison would be beneficial.

Custody is a challenging but rewarding role, and as a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner. You will work closely with the police and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to detainees.
Hours of WorkWe offer a 4-on-4-off rota pattern, which gives you the ability to plan your personal life months in advance. The shift pattern comprises of two day shifts, two night shifts, then 4 days off.
This is a full-time position working in the Abingdon Custody Suite, Colwell Drive, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1AU.
Duties Include- Forensic sampling (including road traffic offence bloods).
- Signposting and conducting referrals; offering support for vulnerabilities and supporting patients to break patterns of re-offending.
- Delivering substance misuse therapies.
- Assessment & care of detainees and staff in custody suites.
- Acute disease management.
- Promoting good personal healthcare.
- Working with Liaison and Diversion to identify any mental health needs.
Essential Skills
- Qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic.
- A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience.
- Acute medical healthcare experience.
Previous experience in any of the following would be ideal to assist you in the role: A&E, walk-in centre, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, prison, as a Paramedic Practitioner, Registered Nurse or other relevant discipline.
