About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic to join our team as a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional. With a minimum of 3 years' post qualification experience, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to detainees in a dynamic and lively environment. The police can detain individuals for up to 24 hours, and within this time, you will work closely with the police to provide a high level of care to detainees and their needs, which can vary from drug/alcohol dependency to acute medical episodes.

As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will be fully trained to collect forensic samples which can assist the police with their investigations. Experience within forensics is not necessary, and you will receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

Key Responsibilities

• Forensic sampling (including road traffic offence bloods)
• Signposting and conducting referrals; offering support for vulnerabilities and supporting patients to break patterns of re-offending
• Delivering substance misuse therapies
• Assessment & care of detainees and staff in custody suites
• Acute disease management
• Promoting good personal healthcare
• Working with Liaison and Diversion to identify any mental health needs
