About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Paramedic to join our team at Long Furlong Medical Centre. As a key member of our community healthcare team, you will work autonomously to provide high-quality patient care and support.
Main Responsibilities
- To assess and triage patients, including same-day triage, and provide comprehensive clinical notes and care plans.
- To advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management, signposting them to other community or voluntary services as needed.
- To perform specialist health checks and reviews, including ECGs and other investigations, and undertake the collection of pathological specimens.
- To communicate effectively with colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team, attending and contributing to meetings as required.
- To collaborate with other members of the practice, including doctors, nurses, and other AHPs, accepting referrals and referring patients for specialist care.
- To maintain accurate and contemporaneous health records, ensuring accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient healthcare and registration with the practice.
- To prescribe, issue, and review medications as appropriate, following policy, patient group directives, NICE guidelines, and local clinical protocols.
- To work with patients to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments, providing information and advice on medication regimens, side effects, and interactions.
- To assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment and care for patients presenting with undifferentiated diagnoses and complex needs.
- To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly.
- To prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist patients in complex, urgent, or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
- To diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating drug- and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
- To support patients in adopting health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- BSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics.
- Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
- Framework for Higher Education Qualification (FHEQ) Level 7.
- Full UK driving licence.
Experience
- Experience in managing a designated caseload.
- Ability to write comprehensive clinical notes, implement, and evaluate care plans.
- Working knowledge of IT systems.
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to evidence a sound understanding of the NHS principles and values.
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex, often incomplete information, and recommend an appropriate course of action.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
Desirable
- Experience of working within a primary care setting.
