Position Overview:

The role involves evaluating high-priority housing requests.

You will be responsible for assessing and managing a caseload of housing applications from individuals with significant needs, including those facing overcrowding, under-occupation, health vulnerabilities, age-related issues, or other specific requirements.

Your duties will include assisting these high-need applicants in exploring various housing alternatives, such as private sector options, social housing opportunities in different regions, and facilitating mutual exchanges for current social housing tenants who need relocation.

You will develop tailored rehousing strategies to enhance the service provided to these applicants, working closely with advocates and other professionals who support them.

Conducting home visits will be essential to fully assess individual circumstances and provide the best possible housing options, advice, and information regarding rehousing prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Offer targeted guidance on the Council's lettings scheme and procedures to optimize sustainable housing options and rehousing prospects for applicants.

- Assist applicants in navigating their housing applications, encouraging informed and pragmatic decisions regarding all available housing options.

- Evaluate complex and challenging cases to enhance rehousing opportunities, collaborating with various professionals to gather all pertinent information.

- Identify potential fraudulent applications and escalate these cases to the Team Manager.

- Collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists and other health professionals to provide the best advice for those needing accessible housing.

- Work in partnership with OTs and other stakeholders to maintain the Disabled Peoples Register and Accessible Housing Register, ensuring IT systems are regularly updated. Participate in initiatives focused on matching properties to individuals with mobility needs.

Essential Experience:

- Familiarity with the legislative and policy framework governing the lettings service, including relevant housing acts, is crucial.

- Proven experience in Housing Options is necessary.

- Proficiency in utilizing various ICT systems is required.

Essential Qualifications:

- A solid general education, with strong written and verbal communication skills, is essential.

Additional Information:

- Working hours: 35 hours per week.

- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends with appropriate notice is required.

- A DBS check will be necessary for this role.
