Job Title: Assessment Officer - Housing Specialist

Job Type: Temporary

Location: Remote (UK)

Job Description:

We are working closely with a Local Authority in the UK to assist with the appointment of an Assessment Officer on a 1-year contract, likely to be extended at the client's discretion. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing targeted advice to applicants on the Council's lettings scheme and procedure to maximize their sustainable housing options and rehousing prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide applicants with expert advice on the Council's lettings scheme and procedure to ensure they are aware of their housing options and can make informed decisions.
  • Assess complex and difficult cases to maximize rehousing prospects, working closely with other professionals to ensure all relevant information is collated.
  • Identify cases of suspected fraudulent applications and refer them to the Team Manager.
  • Work closely with Occupational Therapists and other Health Professionals to ensure the best possible advice is provided to those requiring accessible homes.

Requirements:

  • Experience of engaging with colleagues, members of the public, partner agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience of using a variety of ICT systems.
  • Experience of problem-solving and dealing with complex casework.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable households and caseload management.

  • The successful candidate must be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • The candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
  • This role requires a basic DBS check.
