Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Sustainability Manager to lead our Estates and Facilities Management team within the Public Sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and improving our environmental impact, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving sustainable practices throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Execute Sustainability Strategies: Create and implement effective strategies to improve sustainability and address environmental concerns.
  • Prepare Proposals and Reports: Prepare detailed proposals, budgets, and reports on sustainability for board and stakeholder review.
  • Develop Organisational Policies: Develop and implement organisational policies and practices to enhance sustainability across the force.
  • Research and Evaluate Sustainability Issues: Research environmental sustainability issues, evaluate alternatives, and propose actions for management consideration.
  • Assess Sustainability Initiatives: Create methodologies to assess the success of sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor Sustainability Performance: Develop policies and procedures to monitor the effectiveness of sustainability programmes.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Implement an ES programme to ensure compliance with environmental or governmental regulations.
  • Communicate Sustainability Information: Produce sustainability reports, presentations, and employee guidance to facilitate change and compliance.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments related to sustainability and the environment.
  • Secure Funding: Identify funding opportunities and write proposals or grant applications for environmental initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritise ES initiatives.
  • Provide Guidance: Provide guidance to departments to integrate ES considerations into business decisions.
  • Monitor and Report ES Performance: Monitor and report on ES performance to management and external stakeholders.
  • Stay Informed on ES Trends: Stay informed on ES trends and best practices to keep the organisation at the forefront of industry developments.
  • Manage External Relationships: Manage relationships with external ES stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
Requirements:
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in environmental sustainability management.
  • Strategic Planning: Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
  • Research and Analytical Abilities: Excellent research and analytical abilities.
  • Policies and Programmes: Proficient in developing and implementing policies and programmes.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Ability to produce detailed reports and presentations.
  • Risk Assessments and Funding: Experience in conducting risk assessments and securing funding for initiatives.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Strong collaboration and leadership skills.
  • ES Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of ES trends and regulations.
