Job Summary

This role involves working as a key member of the Orthopaedic Outpatients Department team, providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide reception desk duties, ensuring effective communication with patients and visitors at all times.
  • Answer and direct phone calls, taking messages as necessary.
  • Report maintenance issues to the department manager and liaise with the works department to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Make appointments and coordinate patient schedules as required.
  • Liaise with other departments and disciplines to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure reports and referral letters are escalated to the appropriate personnel within established timescales.
  • Prioritize workload and work independently, using initiative to manage tasks and deadlines.
  • Assemble and maintain accurate patient case notes, adhering to written guidelines and documentation protocols.
  • Provide cover for other department clerks during absences, ensuring continuity of service.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment, adhering to Health and Safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist with COSHH assessments and maintain the patient PCS computer system.
  • Comply with data protection legislation, preserving patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend and complete mandatory training as required, ensuring ESR compliance.
  • Independently manage departmental administration processes, seeking support when necessary to ensure efficient operation.
  • Manage multiple tasks, ensuring deadlines are met and productivity is maintained.
