We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality diagnostic and monitoring services in our cellular pathology laboratory.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in cellular pathology, with experience in histological and cytological specimen processing, and a proven track record of providing accurate and timely analytical data/results. You will also have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with other healthcare professionals to support excellent patient care.
The laboratory operates a 6-day working pattern, with extended opening hours, and an on-call service. We are looking for someone who is flexible and able to work autonomously, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
The ideal candidate will have a Biomedical Science degree (BSc) or equivalent, with a strong background in cellular pathology, and a proven track record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). You will also have experience in a large acute hospital laboratory, with a strong understanding of IT systems, including hospital IT systems and Microsoft Office.
Key Responsibilities- Process histological and cytological specimens for diagnostic and monitoring purposes.
- Provide accurate and timely analytical data/results.
- Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with quality management systems tasks.
- Deliver training and education within the specialist section.
