About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Electromagnetic Materials and Apertures Scientist to join our team at Leonardo. As a Lead EM Materials and Apertures Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and integrating sensors for low observable and airborne platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply electromagnetic principles to design and integrate sensors for low observable and airborne platforms.
- Work with a specialist team to develop experience and expertise in applying electromagnetic principles.
- Collaborate with technical experts in antenna design, mechanical engineering, and material science.
- Contribute to various stages of development, from concept to design proving and measurement.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of current UK research themes and bring new materials and fabrication techniques into the programme.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to others, promoting a culture of sharing best practice and process improvement.
About You
You will have a Degree in a STEM subject and experience/education in at least one of the following areas of Electromagnetics: Low Observables, Stealth Technology, Radio frequency design, Antenna design/modelling/measurement, or Computational Electromagnetic Modelling.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
- A Master's Degree or PhD in a subject such as Physics, Antenna Design, Propagation, Electromagnetics, Microwave engineering, Data Analysis of measured data, etc.
- Working knowledge of CST Microwave Studio or similar EM modelling tools.
- Scientific programming experience, preferably in MATLAB.
- Theoretical or practical knowledge of antenna/EM materials measurements.
- Measurement experience using standard equipment (VNA, Spectrum Analyser, etc.).
- Meets the requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and preferably is a member of a relevant Professional Body.
- Experience of managing relationships with customers and suppliers.
