About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our team as the Head of Theatres and Anaesthetics at Cromwell Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic and busy theatre environment, setting the benchmark for clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level operational and strategic business planning and leadership to support the development and growth of the Theatres and Anaesthetics Department.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to support the delivery of Cromwell Hospital's strategy and act as the key link between service users and the hospital from both a quality and commercial performance perspective.
  • Own and maintain key performance measures for the services, which monitor key outcomes, and demonstrate delivery of ambitious targets to continually improve performance.
  • Review and develop the service strategies underpinned by a business plan which will be led to deliver growth and profit generation. Working closely with service users, evaluating service and maximising investment to deliver strong and sustainable growth.
  • Engage and influence service users (consultants), providing overarching relationship management between the Hospital and key service users.
  • Own the performance of the Division, where improvement requires cross-functional activity, lead and co-ordinate this to resolution.
Requirements
  • Experience and knowledge of strategic planning and decision-making in a competitive environment.
  • A successful track record of theatre leadership.
  • Able to demonstrate capability and capacity for clinical service management at a senior level in a healthcare environment, including strategic business planning, service delivery, staff and financial management.
  • Experience in managing change programmes within complex environments.
  • Strong commercial awareness and good general management experience, understanding the impact of operational efficiencies (and inefficiencies) on the overall revenue performance.
  • Understanding of corporate agenda including risk management and governance issues.
  • Sound awareness and understanding of the UK healthcare industry.
  • Experienced in developing new services and implementing new service models.
  • Proven track record of negotiation.
  • Experience in establishing and applying performance management systems.
  • Understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement techniques and how they deliver value for money and improvement.
  • Track record in writing business cases and policies.
Qualifications
  • Degree-level education in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent.
  • Senior leadership experience or a Master's in Health Management or MBA desirable.
  • Evidence of continued management development.
