Operations Manager

Role Overview

As an Operations Manager, you will oversee a substantial team comprising both direct labor and subcontractors. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that operations are conducted efficiently, safely, and in alignment with budgetary constraints while meeting client expectations.

Customer satisfaction is paramount, and you will strive to deliver services that not only meet but exceed client requirements, fostering a culture of excellence and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be tasked with:

  • Ensuring that all operations comply with health, safety, welfare, and environmental regulations.
  • Proactively managing team performance to enhance customer satisfaction ratings, addressing any areas of concern and sharing best practices.
  • Engaging directly with clients to address low satisfaction ratings or complex issues, ensuring swift resolution.
  • Maintaining adherence to client technical standards and specifications, as well as Network Plus service quality systems.
  • Assessing the health and safety competencies of subcontractors and direct labor before project initiation.
  • Conducting risk assessments and ensuring that appropriate method statements are in place for all contract work.
  • Overseeing resource allocation, including labor, materials, and equipment, to meet client demands effectively.
  • Managing operational resources, including subcontractors, and motivating teams to achieve high performance.
  • Promoting a culture of safety and competence, including identifying training needs and driving improvements across all teams.

Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A qualification in Health & Safety is advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications and authorizations.
  • Experience in the Utilities sector.
  • A Supervisor Street Works qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience in Deep Excavation.
  • Strong verbal communication and management skills.
  • Financial acumen and commercial awareness.
  • Proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • A valid UK Driving Licence.
