Social Work Team Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Manager to lead our Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children's Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a diverse and supportive team of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants, providing a high-quality initial assessment service with a clear focus on protection and safeguarding.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a service that provides accommodation and support to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent. You will work closely with senior managers, KCC colleagues, and partners to deliver and improve services for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in the Service, in Kent, and nationally.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants in providing a high-quality initial assessment service.
- Develop and implement effective safeguarding procedures and policies.
- Work closely with senior managers, KCC colleagues, and partners to deliver and improve services for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
- Provide day-to-day support and high-quality caseload supervision to ensure the team can meet complex and changing demands of the service.
- Contribute to practice and policy development, ensuring the service is a centre of excellence for social work practice nationally.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A social work degree (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent) supported by professional registration as a social worker with Social Work England.
- Extensive post-qualification experience, including supervision, budget management, and joint working with partners in the statutory, private, and voluntary sectors.
- Confidence in your ability to lead and develop a team, with a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures, legislative frameworks, and social work theories relating to child services.
We offer a competitive basic salary between £50,239 and £58,491, dependant on your experience, and the potential to earn up to £66,491 per year when market premiums are applied. You will also receive a range of benefits, including:
