We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our General Insurance (GI) platform team at Lloyds Banking Group. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary team of data engineers, taking accountability for technical designs, solution build & test and deployments.

About the Role

As the Lead Data Engineer, you will be passionate about technology, both current and future trends, and will look for opportunities to bring these into the platform. You will be a role model for your team and colleagues around you, demonstrating expertise in delivering and supporting high-availability, high-performance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a multi-disciplinary team of data engineers
  • Take accountability for technical designs, solution build & test and deployments
  • Stay up-to-date with current and future trends in technology and identify opportunities to bring these into the platform
  • Develop and maintain high-quality technical designs and solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery

Requirements

  • Proven experience in data engineering delivery roles
  • Evolving knowledge of, and curiosity about engineering principles, practices, and technologies
  • Hands-on experience with GCP, GCS Buckets, BigQuery, Apache Beam, Python & Dataflow
  • Experience in DevOps including containerisation, Kubernetes and Jenkins
  • Expertise in delivering and supporting high-availability, high-performance systems
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, able to work and influence across functional boundaries
