Autism Support Professional

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Worker to join our team in a local school in Wareham. As an Autism Support Worker, you will provide essential support to students with autism, helping them succeed in their learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Individualized Support: Offer one-on-one or small group support to students with autism, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning goals.
- Foster a Nurturing Environment: Create a safe and understanding atmosphere where students feel valued, promoting their social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with Teachers: Work closely with teachers and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies tailored to each student's needs.
- Effective Communication: Support effective communication between students, teachers, and parents/guardians, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and involved in the student's progress.
- Empower Independence: Encourage and empower students to develop their independence and life skills, promoting self-confidence and resilience.
- Progress Tracking: Regularly assess and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to progress reports and reviews.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support assistants to create a cohesive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
- Experience or Training: Experience or training in supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Patience and Empathy: Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting student development.
- Strong Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues alike.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
- Commitment to Inclusivity: Commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality within an educational setting.
