Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Physician in Acute and General Medicine to join our team at Whipps Cross Hospital. As a Senior Physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our department.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing medical care to patients with acute and general medicine conditions
- Developing and implementing new models of working and services to support patients
- Contributing to the development of our department and wider services
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellent patient outcomes
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- Specialist registration or within 6 months of obtaining CCT
- Experience in acute and general medicine
- Strong leadership and communication skills

Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- MRCP or equivalent specialist qualification
- Full GMC registration with license to practice
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
- Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
Desirable Criteria
- Evidence of participation in research
- A higher degree (MD, PhD)
Clinical Experience
Essential Criteria
- Higher specialist training in Speciality Interest and G(I)Medicine or Acute Medicine
- Broad experience in Speciality and G(I)M/Acute Medicine
- Current ALS certificate
Desirable Criteria
- Ability to organise and deliver a teaching programme
- Experience in SDEC and/or ambulatory care
Knowledge
Essential Criteria
- G(I)M and of the specialist skills required for this post
- Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients
- Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to lifelong learning
Skills
Essential Criteria
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of supervising medical staff
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs nurses and other agencies
Desirable Criteria
- Ability to motivate busy clinicians to engage in teaching
- Ability to develop research projects and supervise trainees in their research
