POSITION OVERVIEW
The role entails overseeing management accounting, financial forecasting, commercial analysis, and providing decision-making support for the branches within the designated region.
Collaboration with Branch Managers, Regional Directors, and the Head of Finance is essential to optimize commercial prospects while identifying potential risks and opportunities in the region.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as a proactive Finance Business Partner, delivering support, challenge, and insights to Branch Managers and Regional Directors.
Ensure the provision of timely, precise, and pertinent financial data and analysis to key stakeholders, including:
- Monthly and quarterly financial forecasts
- Annual budgeting processes
- Variance analyses
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Ad-hoc analyses aimed at enhancing business performance
- Identification of risks and opportunities to meet targets
- Development and critical evaluation of budget/forecast assumptions and KPIs
- Preparation of Monthly Review Packs and participation in Monthly Branch Review Meetings
- Analysis of business performance variances with recommendations for enhancements
- Consignment reconciliation and analytical challenges
- Margin management through thorough analysis
- Understanding and developing distribution cost reporting and KPIs
- Performance benchmarking across various locations
- Monitoring new business performance and profitability
- Participation in monthly stock assessments
- Maintaining robust financial controls across all operational areas
- Supporting the Head of Finance as necessary through analytical and project activities
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
- Operate in accordance with the SOX internal control framework to mitigate risks and ensure transparency
- Adhere to all company policies and statutory obligations
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors
- Ensure that tasks are documented and saved according to the delegation of authority matrix in a timely manner
- Maintain appropriate segregation of duties within branches aligned with the control framework
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Experience managing multiple sites within the fresh produce sector
- Background in management accounting within an FMCG manufacturing context
- Comfortable operating as the sole Finance representative in the region
- A flexible team player capable of influencing change through insightful analysis and collaboration
- Demonstrates personal accountability, results orientation, and a proactive attitude
- Possesses enthusiasm and determination for continuous improvement
- Able to swiftly adapt to changing environments
- Skilled in prioritizing and managing time effectively under pressure
- Exhibits excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, fostering relationships across all business levels
- Experience in influencing non-financial colleagues
- Proven track record in process enhancement and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to take initiative and adapt to industry changes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified Accountant, preferably CIMA certified
Willingness to support multiple locations and travel extensively is essential for this role.
