About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Engineer to join our team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and implementing databases to support our business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop databases to meet business requirements, ensuring high performance and data integrity.
  • Implement and maintain database infrastructure, including clustering, high availability, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
  • Monitor and report on database performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to optimize database performance.
  • Develop and maintain SQL Server infrastructure solutions, including database design and development within multi-tier IT architecture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database solutions meet business requirements and are aligned with overall IT strategy.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, including NoSQL and Graph Databases, and apply this knowledge to improve database solutions.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in database administration and development, with a strong focus on SQL Server.
  • Expertise in database design, development, and implementation, including clustering, high availability, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Failover clustering and SQL administration.
  • Experience with SQL infrastructure solutions, including database design within multi-tier IT architecture.
  • Ability to quickly understand problems and provide root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
