About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Engineer to join our team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and implementing databases to support our business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop databases to meet business requirements
  • Implement and maintain database infrastructure, including clustering, high availability, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups
  • Monitor and report on database performance, ensuring optimal performance and data governance
  • Develop and implement SQL infrastructure solutions, including database design and multi-tier IT architecture
  • Perform performance tuning of large databases and develop SQL/SSIS solutions
  • Collaborate with project teams to support database activities, including design, build, and implementation tasks
Requirements
  • Strong experience with SQL Server, including clustering, high availability, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups
  • Excellent understanding of database design, development, and administration
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment with data governance and controls in place
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide root cause analysis and resolution
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
