Band 8A Healthcare Operations Manager

NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board

This role presents a unique opportunity for a proactive and knowledgeable professional in Continuing Healthcare (CHC) to become a vital part of our innovative team. The successful candidate will assume a key position in supporting the Head of CHC Services and will take charge of the operational management of Continuing Healthcare, Funded Nursing Care, Continuing Care, and Personal Health Budgets.

The individual will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that service planning and enhancements align with local needs, particularly as we transition towards outcome-focused commissioning. This position also entails providing leadership, management, and development within a supportive and busy team environment.

Main Responsibilities

As the Operational Manager, you will:

  • Take the lead in managing the delivery of Continuing Healthcare, Funded Nursing Care, and Personal Health Budgets across all assessment functions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that service planning reflects local needs, especially during the shift towards outcome-based commissioning.
  • Oversee the commissioning of individual care packages, including those for individuals with Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, or other specialized rehabilitation needs.
  • Lead and manage a diverse team, including assessment team leaders and fast-track services.
  • Ensure quality assurance of CHC assessments and decision-making in accordance with national frameworks and operational policies.
  • Support the achievement of efficiency targets throughout the CHC process.
  • Act as a deputy for the Head of CHC Services when necessary.
  • Provide guidance to senior leaders and administrative staff for service improvement and data management.
