Job Overview

Symphony Healthcare Services Limited is seeking a dedicated and skilled Healthcare Assistant to become a vital part of our clinical team. This position is a permanent role, requiring commitment for hours per week, distributed across five days.

The compensation for this role is competitive, with a pay rate of £ per hour, alongside the benefits of an NHS or NEST pension scheme.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in primary care settings and demonstrate proficiency in various healthcare responsibilities. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Lead/Practice Nurse and adhering to established practice protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will support the clinical team in delivering comprehensive patient care.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Conducting initial health assessments, including BMI and urinalysis
  • Performing ECG recordings
  • Monitoring INR levels using Coagucheck and INR Star
  • Executing Doppler tests
  • Managing blood pressure monitoring in line with practice guidelines
  • Carrying out phlebotomy for annual blood tests and monitoring chronic disease indicators
  • Conducting urinalysis in accordance with practice policies
  • Assisting with wound care and suture removal after appropriate training
  • Supporting weight management initiatives
  • Providing chaperoning services
  • Handling laboratory sample processing as requested by clinical staff
  • Administering influenza vaccinations and B12 injections following training
  • Performing spirometry tests for GP interpretation
  • Restocking surgical supplies and vaccines
  • Preparing consulting rooms for patient care
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of equipment for patient interventions
  • Supporting the assessment of patient health and well-being
  • Promoting health awareness and well-being initiatives
  • Assisting in data collection related to health needs
  • Aiding in recall systems for patient follow-ups
  • Providing lifestyle advice and referrals to local support services
  • Maintaining health promotion materials in waiting areas for patient education

Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
  • Care Certificate

Desirable:

  • Training specific to Healthcare Assistants

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with EMIS web software

Experience:

  • Prior experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar role

  • Experience in a Primary Care or NHS environment
