About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Designated Clinical Officer (DCO) to champion the health needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within Lambeth. This crucial role will see you act as a strategic advisor, coordinating efforts across NHS commissioners, providers, education, and social care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures related to SEND health pathways within Lambeth.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to a wide range of stakeholders, including families, schools, social workers, and healthcare professionals, on all aspects of SEND legislation and best practice.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency teams to ensure seamless care planning for children and young people with SEND, addressing complex cases and advocating for their needs.
  • Represent the Integrated Children's Commissioning Team at strategic meetings and governance structures, influencing decision-making processes related to SEND services.

About You

You will be a registered health professional with a strong clinical background in pediatrics. A Master's degree in a relevant field is essential, demonstrating your ability to research, analyze information, and contribute to policy development. Your extensive knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice, will be crucial in this role.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and drive positive change within the SEND landscape.
