Job Summary

NHS England is seeking experienced advanced practitioners to fill two Training Programme Director (TPD) positions. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in supporting the development of advanced practice training across the region.

About the Role

The TPDs will work closely with the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice to oversee and advise on various aspects of advanced practice training. This includes:

  • Supporting recruitment to advanced practice training posts and programmes
  • Managing trainee/trainer concerns
  • Using educational resources to support learners within programmes
  • Advanced Practice programme management, including assessments, progression, support, and remediation

The TPDs will also work closely to support the implementation of the NHSE Quality Framework, emphasizing the importance of a quality learning environment for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

The TPDs will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development of a quality learning environment for all learners
  • Advising on educational and workforce development elements, including support for effective ICB/organisational workforce planning
  • Supporting the educator development and resource for faculty, trainees, and learners
  • Promoting shared learning opportunities to increase effective inter-professional working across the region
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Education to Masters' level or equivalent level of experience in healthcare leadership
  • Current membership to a regulatory body or Fellowship of a College, Faculty, or professional association
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare education management or commissioning

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the national advancing practice agenda and experience of bringing and supporting advanced practice trainees into a healthcare setting. They will also have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrable leadership skills, and a strong sense of vision and ability to innovate.
