Job Summary

NHS England is seeking experienced advanced practitioners to fill two Training Programme Director (TPD) positions. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in supporting the development of advanced practice training across the region.

About the Role

The TPDs will work closely with the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice to support all aspects of advanced practice training. This includes liaising with universities, trusts, supervisors, and trainees to create a safe learning environment that fosters the best experience for everyone involved.

The TPDs will be instrumental in improving standards of supervision for advanced practice trainees and will escalate support plans for trainees who require remediation. They will also work closely with senior stakeholders and colleagues to collect and share good practice, and will have the opportunity to influence and shape the role as it develops.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on advanced practice specialty-specific matters happening regionally and nationally.
  • Support recruitment to advanced practice training posts and programmes, and manage trainee/trainer concerns.
  • Use educational resources to support learners within programmes to fulfill their full potential.
  • Manage advanced practice programme assessments, progression, support, and remediation, trainee management, careers support, and less than full-time training.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or equivalent level of experience in a specialist area and healthcare leadership. They will also have current membership to a regulatory body or Fellowship of a College, Faculty, or professional association.

Extensive knowledge of healthcare education management or commissioning, acquired through postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience or training, is also essential. The candidate should have experience of bringing and supporting advanced practice trainees into a healthcare setting, and an understanding of AP roles within a range of healthcare settings from all professional groups.

They should also have an understanding of the educational requirements of Advanced practice trainees in practice, and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others are also required.

What We Offer

NHS England offers a range of benefits, including opportunities for personal and professional development, and the chance to work in a dynamic and innovative environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the role and contribute to the development of advanced practice training across the region.

They will also have access to a range of resources and support, including educational resources, and will be part of a team that is committed to delivering high-quality services for all.
