OT Security Officer - Operations

Company - Sentinel

Compensation - Up to £83,000

We are seeking a seasoned professional with a background in Security Operations or Operational Technology engineering. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of network data monitoring and logging within a highly regulated sector. This role is pivotal in enhancing our Operational Security capabilities, addressing threats, vulnerabilities, and compromises in real-time, while also formulating strategic action plans to mitigate risks and prevent future incidents.

This position is part of an expanding Security team dedicated to safeguarding critical infrastructure across various operational domains. The role serves as a crucial link between the IT Security Operations Center and the teams responsible for system operations, providing specialized knowledge regarding security threats that could impact essential services. Responsibilities include evaluating current threats and alerts within the operational network and devising strategies to reduce risks and prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a dedicated team in monitoring essential systems for any signs of threats, vulnerabilities, or compromises.
  • Document security events, alerts, and requests through the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system, acting as a liaison between the IT SOC and the teams managing Operational Technology.
  • Advise on and prioritize security investments to enhance monitoring capabilities.
  • Develop processes, playbooks, and standards to effectively detect and respond to security incidents across the Operational Technology landscape.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in Security Operations, particularly in identifying indicators of compromise from system logs and other sources.
  • Operational Technology experience within a large, regulated utility environment.
  • Understanding of how cybersecurity threats can disrupt electricity transmission systems.
  • Experience in developing new tools, processes, and training to improve team maturity.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and expand a team, including responsibilities for line management and recruitment.
