OT Security Officer - Operations

Location - Scotland

Salary - Up to £83,000

We are seeking a seasoned professional in Security Operations or Operational Technology with a robust background in network data analysis and logging within a highly regulated sector. This role is crucial for a large organization that is expanding its Operational Security capabilities, focusing on real-time threat detection and strategic risk management.

As part of a dedicated Security team, you will play a vital role in safeguarding critical infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include bridging the gap between IT Security Operations and system operations teams, providing expert insights into security threats that affect essential services. This position involves evaluating current threats and alerts within the operational network and formulating strategies to mitigate risks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a specialized team in monitoring essential systems for potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Document security events and alerts through the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system, facilitating communication between IT security and Operational Technology teams.
  • Advise on and prioritize security investments to enhance monitoring capabilities.
  • Develop processes, playbooks, and standards for detecting and responding to security incidents across the Operational Technology landscape.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in Security Operations, particularly in identifying indicators of compromise from system logs and other data sources.
  • Experience in Operational Technology within a large, regulated utility environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how cybersecurity threats can impact electricity transmission systems.
  • Ability to innovate and create new tools, processes, and training to elevate team maturity.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and expanding a team, including responsibilities for line management and recruitment.
