Position Overview

Role Summary

This position is intended for a Fellow to join the Directorate of ENT at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role offers a unique opportunity to gain extensive clinical experience and engage in mentored research within the realm of head and neck surgery.

The Fellow will be integrated into a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, focusing on enhancing surgical and clinical management skills to achieve independent practitioner status.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Receive comprehensive training in modern surgical techniques for head and neck oncology, including transoral and traditional open surgeries.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, preparing and presenting patient cases.
  • Contribute to data collection and management of oncology databases, as well as publishing clinical outcomes.

Our department is recognized for its leadership in head and neck cancer research, including significant contributions to immunotherapy and survivorship studies.

Job Duties

During the fellowship, the Fellow will primarily focus on patient care across various settings, leading junior clinical teams in managing head and neck cancer patients.

Surgical responsibilities will be tailored to the Fellow's progress, with increasing involvement in complex cases. Teaching and mentoring of registrars will be a vital aspect of this role, preparing the Fellow for future leadership positions.

Qualifications

Essential

  • FRCS or equivalent qualification.
  • General Medical Council registration with a license to practice.

Desirable

  • Advanced qualifications such as MD, BSc, or MPhil.

Experience

Essential

  • Completion of at least ST6 or equivalent higher surgical training in Otolaryngology.
  • Experience in audit and teaching.
  • Evidence of audit and research publications in surgical practice.

Desirable

  • Experience in thyroid and head and neck disease and surgical procedures.
