The post will provide a general ENT service in the setting of the day surgery unit in Ormskirk, outpatients in Southport and Ormskirk, and to see referrals from other specialities in Southport and Ormskirk.

The post holder's contract will be held at Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust.

The post holder will collaborate, support and supervise other practioners as agreed to be appropriate with the lead clinician and may be required to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.

Exceptionally the post holder may need to perform additional duties in emergencies, unforeseen circumstances or for continuity of patient care.

There is no on call commitment

Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities

The Post-Holder will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his or her charge for the proper function of the service and will undertake administrative duties associated with the care of the patient and the running of the Clinical Department.

The appointee, together with his or her colleagues will have a commitment to the provision of Otolaryngology services at Southport and Ormskirk.

In addition, other duties will include administration, attendance at meetings and continuing medical education. It is expected that the appointee will participate audit

Qualifications

Essential

MRCS, FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent. Peri-CCT/European Board ORL examination GMC Registration

Desirable

Higher qualifications BSc, MD, MPhil, MSc

Experience

Essential

Completed at least ST 8 level or equivalent higher surgical training in Otolaryngology

Desirable

Core Surgical Training experience in related specialties (, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery)

Research & Audit

Essential

Evidence of audit & research publications in surgery.

Desirable

Publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at learned society meetings/ conferences Good Clinical Practice certificate
